Overview

TCI is a unique K–12 social studies publisher created by teachers, for teachers. For almost 20 years we have partnered with fellow educators to fundamentally change how social studies is taught in the classroom. TCI is different from other educational publishers because we recognize that every student learns differently and all students benefit from learning in multiple ways. That is why each of our K–12 programs is based on the TCI Approach—a set of proven teaching strategies and practices that brings learning alive and achieves consistent, positive classroom results while being mindful of educational standards.

From Pioneering to Innovators

TCI began in 1989 with a group of idealistic teachers who believed social studies could become students’ most exciting, meaningful course if teaching methods became more interactive. We created a little powerhouse of a company that created innovative teacher training and supplemental materials. In 2000, we published our first basal program; since then we have created basal programs for elementary, middle school, and high school teachers across the nation. In 2007, TCI added TCI Academy to meet the growing demand for high quality professional development. Today, TCI is the fastest growing publisher in the nation.
